During the winter months

Snow sometimes causes one or more runways to be closed and flights delayed. If departing from the UK it is a good idea to not fly on the first flights of the day as these are most likely to be cancelled while Prague sorts itself out from the overnight snowfall. The average number of affected days during winter months is 4 to 5 days.

Wifi

In the business lounge upstairs in Terminal 1 there are four PCs with free wired Internet access. Plenty of power points around the lounge for laptops. Paid Wi-Fi hot spot available for 150 CZK for 1 hour (about 6 euros). Wi-Fi signal reception in the lounge is good.

About The Airport

Ruzyne-Prague Airport is a modern and spacious international airport located on the northwest edge of Prague and around 17 km north of the city. All international flights arrive here (there is no other civil airport in Prague). However, Prague has three other small airports and several landing areas for helicopters, located at airports and in hospital compounds.

The journey from the airport to the city centre takes around 25 - 30 minutes, or around 50 minutes by public transport. Since the new Terminal 2 was opened, new facilities have increased and passenger comfort has also been improved, with new conference rooms and other spaces, for example for VIP and business clients, or for those travelling with children etc.

There are several ways of travelling to the airport - car, bus, taxi or minibus. Overall, Prague Airport is a comfortable, clean, and easy place to use and find your way around. More info about airport here.

Flights To Prague

Prague's Ruzyne Airport handles around 250 flights a day and is used by approximately fifty carriers who operate direct connections, scheduled and charter, to 103 destinations around the world, making this airport immense. Up to 1.2 million people a month use the airport - around the same number of people who live in Prague itself.

Based on the number of passengers passing through the terminals (around 11-12 million passengers every year), Ruzyne is now among the top 30 airports in Europe. Its popularity has been boosted by the number of budget airlines now benefiting from Prague's location in central Europe. These companies now link Prague with 13 cities in Europe. For instance, 16 flights a day leave for London alone.

Airport Authority

Airports in the Czech Republic are operated by the Czech Airports Authority, which is a state enterprise. The largest Prague Airport carrier is Czech Airlines (CSA).

Arrivals Lobby

After going through passport control you will come to the arrival lobby, where you can find the tourist information desks. Airport information desk operate 24/7. The friendly staff, who all speak English and German, will assist you with all your questions regarding the airport or getting around.

The tourist info desk is best place where to stop for all your travel needs in Prague and we also recommend you pick up the free city map. There are also other desks at the airport where you can arrange car hire, book a hotel or rent a mobile phone.

Airport Facilities

The airport has restaurants, VIP lounges, conference and congress rooms, several travel and accommodation agencies and a post office. Cafés and bars are located at Pier A and Pier B of the Terminal 1, near immigration, and a food court is provided between the arrival and departure halls. A restaurant in Terminal 2 also provides refreshment. Business persons will appreciate the airline lounges situated in Terminal 1, on the first floor, with a meeting room provided.

The airport also offers three private conference rooms and a press room in the VIP facilities of Terminal 1. A foil baggage wrapping service is available at the entrance for just 3 euros per item. Getting to the city centrum

Airport Bus Location Prague public transport buses and the special Airport Express bus line offer a budget alternative for travelling from the airport to the city centre. For the quickest transport to the city centre or the nearest metro station (airport is not directly accessible by train or metro) we advise using bus routes no. 119 and no. 100.

No.119 (Airport -> Metro A Dejvicka, intervals of 5 to 20 minutes, travel time 25 to 35 minutes)

No.100 (Airport -> Metro B Zlicin, intervals of 15 to 30 minutes, travle time 18 minutes). Good choice if you are heading to the western part of the city.

No.225 (Airport -> Metro B Stodulky, limited service, travel time 40 to 53 minutes)

No.179 (airport -> Metro B Nove Butovice, intervals of 12 to 30 mintes, travel time 45 minutes).

No.510 (airport -> Stodulky, nighttime only, travel time 38 minutes).

airport - centrum ESTIMATED TIME 55 MINUTES
bus no.119 -> get off at "Dejvická"
last stop -> metro (A) - 4 or 5 stops -> centrum

Unfortunately there is no subway or train connection to the city. You should buy a ticket before travelling. You can do this in the arrival hall at public transportation counters located in Terminals 1 and 2 (open 7:00am to 10:00pm), from ticket vending machines located at bus stops, or if arriving late and all shops are closed buy a ticket directly from the driver but note that large banknotes are not accepted. Tickets cost 26 CZK (90p). If you take the No.119 bus (intervals of 5 to 20 minutes, journey time of 25 - 30 minutes) you should get off at the last stop called Dejvicka where you can transfer to underground line A.

In just a few metro stops you will be in the city centre. When buying a 26 CZK ticket for public transport you will receive a transferable ticket allowing you to travel for a 75-minute period. Price when purchased from the bus driver is 30 CZK. Note that if you are carrying any large pieces of luggage i.e. a backpack or suitcase you will need to purchase an additional ½ price ticket. You can also take the No.100 bus which will take you from the airport to Zlicin - the underground station of the yellow line (B) that leads to the town centre (Mustek station).

If travelling at night, catch the night bus No 510 (between midnight and 3.30) from Prague airport to the tram, heading for Divoka Sarka, then take tram No 51 to Dejvicka underground station or further to the city centre (Namesti Republiky or Wenceslas Square).

When travelling to other destinations such as Brno, or Karlovy Vary you can use one of the long distance bus companies.

Airport to the train station by express bus

Airport Express Route - from Terminal 1 (exit D) –> Terminal 2 (exit E) –> Dejvická (metro station A) -> Masarykovo Train Station -> Main Train Station (Hlavní nádraží) – journey time 30 minutes. We recommend using the Airport Express, which is timed to connect with arrivals and departures of all SC Pendolino, Eurocity and Intercity trains. A fare of CZK 50 is charged on this route. The fare also covers travel from Holešovice Station to Prague Central Station if the passenger then continues his journey on Czech Railways trains from Central Station. We advise using Airport Express only when travelling to a destination outside the centre of Prague. (website)
